Doom Scrolling and Getting Things Done

Oops! I fell into the trap of doom scrolling and a bit of self-sabotage, but I’m happy to say I’ve managed to get back on track!

This week has been tough. I found myself doom scrolling—a lot. It wasn’t just once or twice a day; it felt constant. By the weekend, I finally hit reset, and I’m relieved to be back on track and feeling productive again.

I realised I’d been feeling overwhelmed, which led to the doom scrolling and a bit of self-sabotage. There are some big projects on the horizon, and, without meaning to, I let them intimidate me. My response was to avoid everything, which turned into a mental tug-of-war between procrastination and the will to get things done.

What helped me was recognising what was happening and being kind to myself. Instead of dwelling on the time lost, I chose to forgive myself and refocus. That shift in mindset gave me the motivation to start creating, building, and making progress again. I didn’t get everything done, but I managed to tick off a few key tasks.

Websites

I’ve been reorganising and updating my websites, including my newsletter, shop, and personal site. Each one has a specific role to play in my plans for 2025, and I’ve finally sorted out how they’ll work together.

Products

Besides my adventure zines, I’m developing new merchandise like stickers, prints, apparel, and printable digital products. These will be added to my shop soon.

A New Habit

To avoid slipping back into doom scrolling, I’ve hidden social media apps from my home screen. I’ve also set a new rule: one session per day, capped at two hours. This includes uploading content, engaging with followers, and replying to messages. My goal is to use social media more intentionally and not let it consume my time.

Next Week’s Focus

My top priority is to finalise and upload my products so they’re ready to launch in January 2025. I also plan to track my screen time to ensure I’m staying off social media and avoiding the doom scrolling trap.

Here’s to progress, one step at a time!
