Show What You're Working On Every Day
Instead of only showing finished work, I now invite my audience to see the process and development I'm experiencing. The value shifted from just my work to me as a person.
Personal branding is something I've been passionate about for a while because I believe it's crucial for the future. A strong personal brand online gives you an advantage in finding work, attracting clients, and networking.
Building a personal brand can be tough, especially if you're not sure what to offer. This was particularly true for me because I have many interests. It was hard to grow an audience because I kept changing my content. One week, I focused on writing, and the next, on illustrations. This inconsistency confused my audience, causing them to leave.
However, I recently learned to document instead of create. Instead of only showing finished work, I now invite my audience to see the process and development I'm experiencing. The value shifted from just my work to me as a person. Here's why showing your work matters:
Transparency Builds Trust: When you share your work process, you let people in on your journey. This transparency helps build trust with your audience as they see your dedication and progress firsthand.
Consistency Keeps You Top of Mind: Regular updates keep your audience engaged. They’ll start looking forward to your posts, keeping you and your brand at the top of their minds.
Showcase Your Expertise: Sharing your work allows you to demonstrate your skills and expertise. Over time, this establishes you as a go-to person in your niche.
Engage and Get Feedback: Posting your work invites feedback and engagement from your audience. This interaction can provide valuable insights and foster a sense of community around your brand.

Projects I’m Working On:
Tabletop RPG Zines
The 8-page zine includes three encounters for the adventure. Last week, I finished reworking the first encounter, so now I just need to complete the third one since the second encounter is done and didn't need any changes. This week, I'll focus on the third and final encounter.
YouTube
After some brainstorming, I've decided my first YouTube videos will be newsletter recaps. Basically, I'll read out my newsletter like a podcast. It's the simplest content I could think of to start with because it's low effort and quick to execute.
Illustration Business
The first step is to create sample work for potential clients. I've planned to make 12 illustrations. That's what I'm going to focus on this week.
Short Stories
I haven't made much progress on my short story. I keep forgetting about it, which is bad. So, I set a reminder to work on it daily and post updates on Instagram and Twitter.
What I've been reading/watching/listening:
In the video "How to Build A Brand in 2024" Alex Hormozi, a successful entrepreneur and author, shares valuable tips on branding. Hormozi emphasizes the importance of consistency, authenticity, and delivering value. He advises building a brand by consistently showing up and engaging with the audience, being genuine and transparent, and focusing on providing real value rather than just promoting products. Hormozi also highlights the significance of storytelling and building a community around the brand to foster loyalty and trust.
In the video "Time to Stop Procrastinating. Here's How" they offer practical tips to overcome procrastination. Key strategies include breaking tasks into smaller, manageable parts, setting specific deadlines, and using techniques like the Pomodoro Technique to maintain focus. The video also emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing the root causes of procrastination, such as fear of failure or perfectionism. Additionally, creating a conducive work environment and eliminating distractions are highlighted as essential steps to boost productivity and reduce procrastination.
In the video “For those who are obsessed with self-improvement videos. | Cinematic vlog“ discusses the pitfalls of consuming excessive self-improvement content without taking action. Pair argues that while advice can be beneficial, real change requires courage to face discomfort and discipline to act. They share their own experience of stopping the consumption of such videos and focusing on practical work, which brought them greater fulfillment and progress. The tip advises prioritizing actionable steps over passive learning, suggesting that true growth arises from consistent, hands-on effort rather than mere accumulation of knowledge.
Your daily dose of practical wisdom: Overcome imposter syndrome
Summary: Imposter syndrome can make you doubt your achievements and feel like a fraud despite evidence of success. To overcome it, recognize and acknowledge your accomplishments, talk about your feelings with others, reframe negative thoughts, and seek support from mentors or counselors.
Tip: Keep a success journal where you regularly write down your achievements, big or small. Reviewing this can help reinforce your self-worth and combat imposter syndrome.
